About the game
How Magic Sort works.
A liquid-sorting puzzle where every pour changes the temporary space available for the next color.
Magic Sort is a color-order puzzle where only the exposed liquid at the top of a vial can move. A pour that looks harmless can uncover the color you need next, or bury it beneath another layer and force several recovery moves.
The empty vials are working space rather than spare space. Keeping one container flexible lets you separate mixed colors, reverse a setup, and avoid reaching a board where every visible pour locks the remaining sequence.

How to play Magic Sort
Three actions to understand before the first run.
- 01
Tap or click a vial, then choose a valid destination to pour its top color.
- 02
Build single-color vials while preserving an empty or flexible container.
- 03
Restart when the visible top layers can no longer be reorganized into useful groups.
Board reading
What separates a safe move from a tempting one.
An empty vial is not wasted space. It is the buffer that lets you separate two colors without locking either one.
A safe pour should either complete a color group or preserve a route back if the next layer is unhelpful.
Strategy notes
Build a better second run.
Use these observations after you have felt the controls once.
The same discipline used to protect Pixel Flow's fifth tray slot applies to the final empty vial here.
Both games punish moving a convenient color before checking what that move exposes or blocks next.
Magic Sort is turn-based and reversible more often than Pixel Flow. Use that slower pace to compare multiple setup sequences before committing.
Complete one vial without consuming your last empty container. If a move would remove every buffer, find a different setup pour first.
The empty tube is not spare space, it is the undo button. I keep one open until two colors are almost solved.
Before I pour, I look at the color underneath the top layer. Half my bad moves came from uncovering a color with nowhere to go.
This plays smoother than most sort games in a browser. I do wish the early levels had one more mixed bottle before they ramp up.
I had better luck solving from the colors with only two visible chunks first, then using the messy bottles as temporary storage.
If two bottles have the same top color, I combine only when the destination still leaves a buffer. Otherwise the next pour gets boxed in.
